NEWSPAPER ARTICLE, December 12, 1867: On Tuesday night of last week, Mr. R. S. Niles, of Windsor Township, had a valuable horse stolen. On Thursday evening the authorities here received word from Independence that a young many, having in his possesion a horse answering the description given by Mr. Niles, had been arrested at that place - Jack Welsh was dispatched immediately to that place and returned Friday with the prisoner in charge. On Saturday, the prisoner, Frank Wickham, a young man about 20 years of age, was indicted by the grand jury for horse stealing, was brought before the court then in session at this place, plead guilty and is now awaiting sentence at this writing. NEWSPAPER ARTICLE, December 17, 1889: Sheriff Bobcock is now absent at Ft. Madison on official business. He was accompanied by Frank Wickham and "Josh" Hall, who take up a residence at that place at the suggestion of Judge McGlathery. Wickham to remain 18 months and Hall to remain 11 months. Horse stealing and driving off cattle without the consent of the owner, were the principal causes of this change of residence on the part of these young men. NEWSPAPER CLIPPING, Aug 27, 1889: Frank Wickham lost a mare last Monday night.....Mrs. Rose Wickham will start next Tuesday with her two little ones for a prolonged visit among her people in Kansas whom she has not seen for over seven years. She will not return to this part of the globe but will join her husband Frank Wickham at some point on their journey to Oregon where they will pitch their tent for a future home.
