Travel Over Here And Over There With "B" Company, 1915-1919, by Thomas F. Johnson: In Nov. 1914, as World War I was beginning, the business men of Minneapolis, KS decided to organize a company of National Guards so they would be trained once the US became involved in the war. On Jan. 22, 1915 the 1st Provisional Comp., 2nd KS Infantry was mustered into service. Clyde Wickham was one of the enlisted men who signed the initial muster roll. The call for mobilization of the KS state guard came on June 19, 1916 and the unit was sent to TX. This unit later was sent to Europe and became know as "Heroes of the Argonne" after being involved in heavy fighting in the Argonne Forest in France. On May 19, 1919, Comp. G returned home.
