Earliest Settlers of Western Frederick-Eastern Hampshire Counties in Virginia, Grace Kelso Garner, compiler, p. 177: "Samuel Millslagle, son of Andrew and ______ Millslagle, was born in Virginia in 1810 and moves with his parents to Ohio when a small boy. He married about 1832/33 to a Miss Ackley, daughter of Daniel and Asenith Ackley of Noble Twp., Morgan County." "The 1850 census finds him in Cedar County, Iowa in Pioneer Twp. and it reads Samuel Millslagle, age 40, Hannah, 24 (this is Hannah Wickham Millslagle, his second wife) Andrew 15 - Jackson 13 - Robert - Thomas B - Sena 6 - Moses 4 and Julia A. I . . . the oldest daughter of Samuel named Mary ("Polly") and a son Jacob had been left in Washington County, Ohio, Independence Twp, with relatives."
