General Notes: Earliest Settlers of Western Frederick-Eastern Hampshire Counties in Virginia, Grace Kelso Garner, compiler, p. 177: "Samuel Millslagle, son of Andrew and ______ Millslagle, was born in Virginia in 1810 and moves with his parents to Ohio when a small boy. He married about 1832/33 to a Miss Ackley, daughter of Daniel and Asenith Ackley of Noble Twp., Morgan County." "The 1850 census finds him in Cedar County, Iowa in Pioneer Twp. and it reads Samuel Millslagle, age 40, Hannah, 24 (this is Hannah Wickham Millslagle, his second wife) Andrew 15 - Jackson 13 - Robert - Thomas B - Sena 6 - Moses 4 and Julia A. I . . . the oldest daughter of Samuel named Mary ("Polly") and a son Jacob had been left in Washington County, Ohio, Independence Twp, with relatives." Samuel married Julia ACKLEY about 1832 in Monroe Co, OH.1 (Julia ACKLEY was born about 1810 5 and died before 1848 5.) Samuel next married Hannah WICKHAM, daughter of John WICKHAM Jr. and Eunice CUNNINGHAM, about 1847 in IA. (Hannah WICKHAM was born on 11 Aug 1826 in Olive Twp, Morgan Co, OH 6 and died on 12 Apr 1901 in probably Hardin Co, IA.) |
