OBIT, Constitution Democrat, Keokuk, IA, July 25, 1914: AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY - Mrs. Sarah Harmon dies at home of her son - HALF CENTURY HERE - One of the pioneers of the city answers summons. A Native of Ohio, the deceased came here in 1848 - her home here since then. At the home of her son, J. W. Harmon 1824 Oak St., last evening at 9:30, occurred the death of Mrs. Sarah R. Harmon, one of the oldest residents of the city, having lived here more than 65 years. Death followed an extended illness. Mrs. Harmon was well known in Keokuk. Sarah R. Wickham was born in Zanesville, OH, on March 7, 1832. She came to Keokuk 16 yrs. later, in 1848. She was united in marriage here to William Harmon in 1851, and after a long married life the husband passed away in 1904. To the union had been born 5 children, 2 of whom died in infancy and a third, Mrs. W. B. Hamilton, died in 1886. The surviving children are 2 sons, J. W. Harmon and C. E. Harmon of this city. One brother, Jacob A. Wickham, of Kahoka, MO, also survives her. The funeral services will be held from the residence of J. W. Harmon on Sunday afternoon at 2:30.
