HISTORY OF MILLS CO, IA, 1925: He preferred to be known as Joy C. or J. C. Mickelwait. He lived his entire life in Glenwood, IA. As a young man he belonged to the National Guard. He enlisted in the Army during WW I and was in Officer's Training School in AK at the time of the armistice. At the time of his death he was a member of the Home Guard that was formed during WW II. He helped organize the first 4-H Clubs in Mills County. Hunting and fishing were his hobbies and he told colorful stories of hunting experiences along the bottom lands of the Missouri River."
