OBIT: The Cedar Rapids Gazette (IA), Sun, June 30, 1985: Jesse O. Wickham, 84, died Friday evening at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, following a lingering illness. He lived and worked in Cedar Rapids from 1925 to 1941 before becoming a farmer in the Williamsburg-Parnell area. Survivors include his wife, Madeline; a daughter Margaret Matthess of Iowa City; two sons, Ronald of Cedar Rapids and James of Kansas City, Mo; a sister, Emma Mattus of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services: 10:30 Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Uhlmann's, where a parish rosary will be held at 8 tonight.

Wickham, 84, Williamsburg, were held Monday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church, Williamsburg, with the Rev. George Bachman celebrating the mass. Robert Hanson was lector. Wickham died Friday, June 28, 1985, at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, following a long illness. Irene (Mrs. Hugh) O'Meara was organist for the service. Soloist was Elaine (Mrs. Francis) Dillin, who sang, "Beautiful Savior," "Ave Maria" and "Let There Be Peace." Ushers were William Shannahan and Leo Driscoll. Musicians and ushers were all of Williamburg. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Williamsburg. Casket bearers were: David Andrews, Cedar Rapids; James Wickham, William Lane and William Lane sr., all of Kansas City, Mo.; Donald Meade, Parnell; John Lower, Williamsburg. The parish rosary was recited Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Uhlmann Funeral home, Williamsburg. Jesse O. Wickham was born May 19, 1901, in Linn county, Cedar Rapids, the son of Orson and Florence Brown Wickham. He received his education in the Cedar Rapids schools. He was baptized and confirmed in 1923 at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Cedar Rapids, where he had received instructions in the Catholic faith prior to his marriage to Madeline Coakley, July 19, 1924, at St. Patrick's Catholic church. He operated a garage in Cedar Rapids from 1925 until 1935 and was a service manager of Goodyear Tire and Rubber from 1935 until 1941. The couple moved to the Williamsburg-Parnell area in 1941 where they farmed and he also was a salesman for Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., selling seed corn. In 1973 they retired and moved into Williamsburg. He was involved with the local Kiwanis club and the Cedar Rapids Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and was active in church and county affairs as long as his health permitted. His hobby was playing cards. He is survived by his wife, Madeline, and three children, Margaret (Mrs. Hilton) Matthess, Iowa City; Ronald Wickham, Cedar Rapids, and James Wickham, Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Mattus, Cedar Rapids. Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Harry, Loren, Aaron and Clarence, and two sisters, Louise and Sarah.
