BIRTH DATE: a DAR application states Nathan was born about 1782 in NY.
(Note: It is possible that Jerusha is not the mother of Nathan, since she would only have been 3 when he was born - if birth dates listed here are correct. Therefore, it is possible that Nathan was the son of Benjamin and another wife.)

History of Noble County, Ohio, by L. H. Watkins Co, Chicago, 1887, p. 338: "Owners of Real Estate", Center Twp (prior Union Twp), Monroe Co., Nathan Wickham - section 31, 55 acres, $60.00.

1977 LETTER TO MRS. SKINNER FROM MYRA T. TORBERT, Leawood, KS: - - -
"I note you named a Jacob Douglas Wickham. The son-in-law of my Nathan Wickham was Jacob Douglas who md. Nathan's daughter, Julia. Jacob and Julia seemed to stay with Nathan and his wife, and they helped raise the children of Sena Wickham Shamblen (Julia's younger sister) after Sena died. Sena was my great, great grandmother.
Other names that tie in from what is now Noble County (formerly Monroe, Morgan, etc.) in my line are Bates, States, Slaughter, Archer, Merry, Bass, Rouse, Ackley, Devolld (DeVoll), Rubel, and Shamblen." - - -
I note that your Wickhams went to Harrison County, Iowa. My Eliza Schamblen Gilpin (daughter of Sena Wickham, and granddaughter of Nathan Wickham) went to Mills County, Iowa about the time of the Civil War. She was widowed, and the life history she gave stated that some of her mother's family had gone to Iowa, and that was what made her decide to go to Iowa, also. Mills County (Glenwood) is south of Harrison County."
