OBIT: The Cedar Rapids Gazette (IA), Mon, July 22, 1991: Emma M. Wickham Matus, 91, of Heritage Acres, died Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Brosh Chapel. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel today from 2 to 8 p.m. Survivors include three granddaughters, Janette House of Des Moines, Maureen Rutherford of Estherville and Donna Bresnahan of Waukon; two grandsons, Loran Lain and Lowell Lain, both of Cedar Rapids; ten great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Lain of Cedar Rapids, and a sister-in-law, Madge Wickham of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by two sons, Loran Lain, Sr., and Emanuel House; and five brothers and two sisters. She was born Sept. 21, 1899 in Tipton, the daughter of Florence Hester Brown and Orson Jess Wickham. She married John Matus Feb., 1933 in Rock Island. He died in 1982. Prior to her retirement she worked for Wilson and Co. for 20 years. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, Mosse Lodge 515 Auxiliary, Wilson Retirees and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Gold Star mother. The Rev. Charles Mehaffey will officiate. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 375 Collins Rd. NE,Cedar Rapids 52402.
