OBIT: HARRY GREENLIEF DIES; FUNERAL RITES WEDNESDAY - Harry Greenlief, 69, well-known retired businessman and hotel operator here, died early Sunday morning at Lutheran hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Greenlief was admitted to the hospital as a medical patient Saturday afternoon after he suffered a stroke at his home, 918 Fourth avenue north.
His condition had been considered critical from the first.
Funeral services will be held at bruces. Dr. James J. Davies of Humboldt, close friend of the family and former pastor of First Methodist church here, will officiate.
Masonic rites will be conducted at the funeral home by representatives of Ashlar Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in the family lot in the Steamboat Rock, Ia., cemetery.
Mr. Greenlief is survived by two grandchildren, Joe Greenlief, a student at Cornell college, Mount Vernon, and Miss June Greenlief of Chicago; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eleanor Greenlief of Los Angeles, Calif., and tow sisters, Mrs. Birdie Eilers of Des Moines and Mrs. Fay Adey of Iowa City.
His wife died in 1944 and a son, Irwin Greenlief, died in August of 1951. His parents and a sister, Mrs. Lillie Hamlin, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Greenlief, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Greenlief, was born Aug. 29, 1884, in Steamboat Rock. He attended the public schools there. As a young man he worked in a tin and plumbing shop and later owned and operated a shoe store.
He was married to Miss Eudora Wickham of Steamboat Rock in 1905. The couple moved to Fort Dodge in 1911 and the following year Mr. Greenlief purchased the Logan hotel. He operated the hotel until May of 1953, when he sold his interests and retired.
For a number of years he also owned and operated the Mineral City Bottling works here and was a partner, with John Amond, in the Amond Coal company until the firm was sold in June of 1945.
Mr. Greenlief was a member of the First Methodist church of Fort Dodge. He also belonged to Ashlar Masonic lodge, Aurora chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the High Twelve Masonic luncheon club and the Fort Dodge Rotary club.

FINAL RITES FOR HARRY GREENLIEF - Funeral rites for Harry Greenlief, 69, were held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Bruces. Dr. James J. Davies of Humbold; former pastor of the First Methodist church and a close friends of the family, officiated.
Burial was in the family lot in the Steamboat Rock, Ia., cemetery.
Mr. Greenlief, who made his home at 918 Fourth avenue north, died Sunday at Lutheran hospital after a brief illness.
Pallbearers were L. F. Wessel, Leon Leonard, John Amond, John Evans, Clifford Sampson and Harry Moore. Flowers were arranged by Mrs. L. F. Wessel, Mrs. Ernest Luebke, Mrs. J. W. Murphey and Mrs. Charles Dushak.
Homer Jones sang two selections, "No Night There" and "Ivory Palaces." Accompaniment was played by Mrs. A.M. Murray, who also played organ selections preceding and following the service.
Masonic rites were conducted at the funeral home following the service, by a representative of Ashlar Masonic lodge of Fort Dodge.
Members of Ashlar lodge also attended the service in a group. Other groups attending included members of Aurora chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the High Twelve Masonic luncheon club, and the Fort Dodge Rotary club.
The funeral home was completely filled by the hundreds of friends and relatives who attended the service.
