Lena E. Mellish Stovall - 1913-2005
Lena Etta Mellish Stovall, 91, of Torrington died Feb. 5 at Regional West Medical Center in Scotts Bluff, Neb. She was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Lyndon, Kan., the daughter of William John and Ella Mae (Jolly) Mellish.
Mrs. Stovall was educated to the eighth grade and then went to work in a caf? in Girad, Kan. She met Alvin Sylvester Stovall and the couple married Aug. 29, 1934, in Joplin, Mo. They lived in Missouri for three years and then moved to Casper in 1938 for two years. The couple then moved to Billings, Mont., in 1940 and in 1943 to Vancouver, Wash., where Lena's husband worked in the ship yards during the war. In 1945, they moved their family to Torrington, where Lena worked at the Goshen County Memorial Hospital for 15 years.
Mr. Stovall died in 1977 and Lena remained in Torrington, where she was living at the time of her death.
Lena loved to spend time with her family, and she enjoyed all 21 of her grandchildren, 32 of her great-grandchildren and her two great-great-grandchildren.
She loved to play cards and dominoes, an d she enjoyed puzzles and embroidery.
Lena's main love was to "boss her kids," no matter how old they were.
She is survived by three sons, Jack Stovall and his wife Elizabeth, Richard Stovall and his wife Leslie, and James Stovall and his wife Karolyn, all of Torrington; four daughters, Roberta Prazma and her husband Jerry of Moorecroft, Joanne Mark, Gloria Stull, and Susan Filbert and her husband Vern, all of Torrington; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Stovall was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; two sons, Bruce and Donald; a daughter, Patricia; a granddaughter, Kerri Lee; and a son-in-law, Harley Mark.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lighthouse Ministries Church with Pastor Rick Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. Monday at Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington. The casket will be open at the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Colyer Funeral Home.

Lena married Alvin STOVALL, son of Silvester D. STOVALL and Anna Lee HORTON, on 29 Aug 1934 in Joplin, Jasper Co, MO.¹ (Alvin STOVALL was born on 15 Oct 1911 in KS,² died in Jan 1977 in Torrington, Goshen Co, WY ¹ and was buried in Valley View Cem, Torrington, Goshen Co, WY ³.)
