LETTER FROM MABEL JAMES MORGAN (Mrs. Ernest R.), Omaha, NE to MISS OLIVE WICKHAM of Steamboat Rock, IA, Jan 26, 1939:
"Have recently been corresponding with E. C. Wickham of Steamboat Rock Ia. and upon his suggestion I am writing you to inquire if you would please give me some information about the Wickham line. I am making an effort to trace my line, and seems heretofore there has been no research and public reference material is very scarce, we will just have to depend upon family records and war records do not furnish the connecting links that are required and the proof is too necessary for D.A. R. membership. However, if I can get it worked out and accepted, then there will be a permanent record before the newer generation remove the scarce records to the background.
I have an old letter written by my greatgrandfather Nathan Robin Wickham (son of Bimeal Robin Wickham) in 1894 - 5 years before his death - which states that 'William Wickham who lived at Zanesville Ohio was an own Uncle of Father's (ie Uncle Bimeal) and that William's son 'Asel' lived in Iowa upon the Iowa River in Hardin Co. so thro inquiry at Des Moines Historical Society and census Dept. I am trying to get in touch with the descendants of 'William of Zanesville' and 'Asels' line to see if you could help me to know more about William's Brothers and sisters, also who his Father was. This is how my line runs, would you know if your ancestor William W. of Zanesville was brother of Reuben and who his 'Reuben's' father was.

6. Reuben NY - no dates - no marriage info
His gdfather - no names or dates - native NY moved Ohio in early day Rev Soldier 1812 Large family - no dates
Bimeal R. had 4 brothers that I know of - Eber-William-Philander-Orison wonder if there were others- The way the old letter reads that your ancestor 'William of Zanesville' must be brother of 'Reuben'?
Have you ever heard of Mary Balis who married Bimeal (I have her full obituary-was the mother of Susanna Wickham?
Greatgrandfather also states that 'Old Uncle Benjamin John and several others that I can't call to mind. They lived on Duck Creek or its waters. I dont remember greatgrandpas name (ie Rev Soldier) but they all spring from New York Wickham - (Dont know what connection these old Wickhams had) -Would this seem in the least familiar, want something on Reuben or his brothers and sisters also his father and mother. - Would you please respond-thanks in advance-signed Mabel James Morgan-Mrs Ernest R - 5424 Hickory St Omaha Neb
Did some research last summer at Cedar Rapids. are you a sister of Ernie C. Wickham or what connection. (transcribed as typed/written)
