OBIT, 1948: ALMON WICKHAM - Funeral services for Almon O. Wickham, 74, who did at his home Sep. 21, was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church. Rev. E. J. Starr officiating. Almon O. Wickham, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wickham, was b. July 7, 1874, at Waukon, IA. He came to Fayette Co with his family when he was a small child. He was baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist church. On March 19, 1913 he was married to Cora Arnold of West Union. He renewed his baptismal vows in 1913. They lived on a farm north of Hawkeye and about 15 yrs ago moved to Hawkeye where they have since lived.
He is survived by his widow, five daughters, Mrs. Bert Downs, Mrs. Bernard Hammond, Hawkeye, Mrs. Clyde Ridgeway, Fredericksburg, Mrs. Lyle Pierce, Yuma, Ariz, Mrs. Gilbert Welch, Lamont, one son Lawrence at home and a son, Gilbert McElree, West Union, by a former marriage; two brothers, John Wickham, Cedar Rapids, Frank Wickham, Postville; two sisters Mrs. Ella Miller, Hawkeye and Mrs. Willis Fuller, Waukon; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. His parents and a brother, William Wickham, preceded him.
