The McDonalds - The funeral of Mr. and Mrs. John McDonald, two victims of the storm last Sunday, was held Tuesday, and they were buried in the West Liberty church cemetery north of Glenwood, and there was a large attendance. Rev. Joseph Stille conducted the services.
Mr. and Mrs. McDonald had lived on the McCluskey farm in the Mickelwait Hollow and were killed when that house was demolished and blown away. It is uncertain just how they were killed. They were evidently in the house and made no attempt to escape as there was a good cave close to the kitchen door. Mr. McDonald was dead when found, and Mrs. McDonald spoke but a few words.
They were an elderly couple, were married In 1900, and both had been married before. Mr. McDonald was born at Beetown, Wisconsin, and was aged 66 years, 1 month, and 15 days. He came to Iowa in 1890. He has two children\emdash William who has lived with him, and a daughter at Kearney, Neb. Will was away from home at Plattsmouth at the time of the storm.
Mrs. McDonald was aged 62 years 3 months 25 days. She was born in Indiana, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Jones, and her maiden name was Acenith I. Her people were early settlers in Mills County, living between Old Pacific and Folsom. She was a sister to Mrs. George Brower north of Glenwood, to Mrs.Charles Binkley of Oakland, and to A. R. Jones formerly of Oak township but now living at Loveland. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were here at the funeral, but it was not possible to get word to Mrs. Binkley. Allen Jones, a step-brother, was also here from Missouri Valley. She was the mother of Mrs. Charles N. Schade of Randolph, who has 9 children and one granddaughter. Mr. and Mrs. Schade were here at the funeral.
