Hilton E. "Red" Matthess, 86, of 614 first Ave., Iowa City, died Thursday, August 19, 2004, in Mercy Hospital after a long illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with Deacon Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Williamsburg. Friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Hilton "Red" Matthess Memorial Fund.
Survivors include his wife, Peg, a son, Dave and wife, Jan, Andrews, of Marion, two grandchildren, David and Kevin, two brothers, Kenneth Matthess of Andalusia, IL and Walter Matthess of Laurence, TN, one sister, Arlene Bringham of Worchester, MA.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
