A funeral service for Dale Robert Winegardner, 85, of Zanesville, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, with the Rev. Tim Shumaker officiating. Burial will be at Mount Sterling Cemetery, Mount Sterling. Dale died at 6:46 a.m. Sunday, June 4, 2006, in Columbus. He was born Feb. 18, 1921, at Thornport, a son of the late Dale R. and Erma Buker Winegardner.
Dale had worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass and retired after more than 30 years of service as a drill operator for Rockwell International. He was a member of Hopewell Free Methodist Church, where he was the treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Esther L. Walter Winegardner, of the home; four daughters, Dorene (Richard) Hunter of The Villages, Fla., Vicki (Thomas) Nixon, of Columbus, Linda Winegardner, of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Lori (Donnie) Phillis, of Hopewell; a son, Gary (Linda) Winegardner, of Caldwell; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Evelyn) Winegardner, of Newark; and a sister, Lillie Stewart, of Fredericktown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Winegardner; a sister, Clara Shaffer; a granddaughter, Melissa Phillis; and a great-grandson, Michael Howland.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
