OBIT: Fremont Tribune, June 14, 2007: Hiram Ball - The memorial service for Hiram E. Ball, 93, of Decatur will be 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Decatur. He died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at his home in Decatur. He was born June 2, 1914, in Thurston County to Claude E. and Myrtle (Marks) Ball. He attended the rural Ball School near his childhood home. He married Janet Ashley, also of Decatur, on Aug. 23, 1933. He farmed until 1958. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Survivors include: his wife of 73 years, Janet of Decatur; three sons, Jim (and wife, Paula) Ball of Bella Vista, Ark., Donald (and wife, Janice) Ball and David (and wife, Gloria) Ball, all of Fremont; four daughters, Janene (and husband, Robert) Malzer of Las Vegas, Elizabeth "Libby" (and husband, Eldon) Carlsten of Clitheral, Minn., Harriet Jones of Omaha and Lucinda "Cindy" (and husband, Arlen) Kempcke of Lyons; a brother, Claude (and wife, Bette) Ball of Onawa, Iowa; two, sisters, Luella Beck of Decatur and Lorraine Day of Union Grove, Wis.; 24 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; five sisters; two grandsons; a granddaughter-in-law; and a daughter-in-law. A sixth sister, Mable Minton, also died on June 10, 2007, just 11 hours after him.
The Rev. Philip Sloat will officiate Friday's service. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur.
