Edward Fayer Widely Known in Montezuma Area
Memorial services for Edward Fayer were conducted at 2 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Steffy Funeral Home by Rev. Glenn R. Dicken. Mrs. Dean Doonan, accompanied by Miss Alice Underwood, sand "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset".
Interment was in Jackson Township cemetery. Casket bearers were Floyd Stanford, Melvin Johnson, Russell Talbert, Earl Mann, Harold Beaderstadt and Alfred Tish.
Edward, son of Rachel and Mike Fayer, was born near Montezuma, Aug. 27, 1887, and died at the Mahaska hospital, Oskaloosa, Jan. 31, at 74 years of age.
He grew to manhood in this community where he attended rural school. His entire life has been spent in farming.
In July, 1904, he was united in marriage with Alva Vermillion and to this union five children were born. She died Mar. 15, 1925.
On Dec. 10, 1926, he was married to Louise Tish, to this union, six children were born.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Homer, Larry and Kenneth; four daughters, Verna Van Wyke, Margie Stevens, June Sheets and Dorothy Talbert; also one step-son, Harold Tish; 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
