OBIT: a Minonk newspaper, 1909: While staying with his sister, Mrs. George Ioerger, and seemingly enjoying the best of heath, Mr. John Tammen from Nebraska, suddenly took sick, with pneumonia April 14 and died April 24. He was born December 13, 1849, and was a son of Mr. & Mrs. Tammen, the former of whom, as the readers will remember, met with an accident almost four years ago. Mr. Tammen was married twice. His first marriage he entered with Miss Etja Davids in the year 1870, at Fahne, East Friesland, Germany, the place where he was born. In 1875 they emigrated to this country, and lived in this community for a number of years. Then he moved to Nebraska, where his first wife died about ten years ago. For the second time he was married with Miss Gerosha Conglan. It was only for a few years they lived together when his second wife also died. Of the fourteen children that were born to him, seven survive their father. One of them, a son, came here from Nebraska to attend the funeral of his father, who died at the age of 59 years, four months and 10 days. The funeral service was held last Friday afternoon by Rev. Theo Kettelhut, at the home of Mrs. Geo Ioerger. Internment was made at Baughmann's cemetery.

OBIT OF JOHN TAMMEN'S FATHER: The Metamora Herald, (Woodford Co, IL) , August 25, 1905 Mrs. George Ioerger, who had been visiting at the home of her brother-in-law, Joseph Ioerger, southwest of town, and at Michael Ioerger's near Peoria, received a telephone message last Friday night that her father, John Tammen, an aged resident of near Woodford, had met with sudden death by being thrown from a buggy. The accident happened as Mr. Tammen was returning home from George Ioerger's. It is supposed the horse turned too short, upsetting the buggy. In the fall the old gentleman's neck was broken and when picked up he was dead. Mrs. Ioerger left at once for her home near Woodford. The funeral took place Tuesday, burial being made in the Minonk cemetery. Note: The baptismal name for John Tammen, the deceased, was Tamme Ihnen Tammen. Date of Death: August 19, 1905
