After faithfully serving her Lord during her 85 years, Marion Anderson of Windsor went to be with Him in the early morning of Sunday, Nov. 24. She was happily married to Leon Anderson for 54 years until his death in 2003. Marion leaves a legacy of five children - Gwynne Watson (and her husband, Steve), Daryl Anderson (and his wife, Carol), Dale Anderson, Lola Johnson (and her husband, Dave), and Dean Anderson (and his wife, Mindy) along with 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and countless others she took under her wing like family. Marion was born on Oct. 13, 1928, in Denver, Colo. At 13, Marion moved with her family to Southern California. Marion met Leon, and the two were married when she was 20 and he was 25. To save what little money they had, they wed at a small Las Vegas chapel bringing along her parents. The chaplain was shocked when they took him up on his invitation to attend his church the next day. They moved from Southern California to Fulton in 1960. Marion worked as the volunteer coordinator at Mark West Elementary School, and served with Sonoma County Young Life. In their later years, Marion and Leon moved to Windsor. Marion delighted in her grand and great-grand kids, exercise at the Airport Club, and her church. Marion was devoted to prayer and God's Word, and will be remembered for her hospitality and love. A service will be held to thank the Lord for her life at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Rosa, 1550 Pacific Avenue. Gifts in her honor may be given to Project Survival and Young Life Capernaum.
