George Ellery Gibson of La Pine died Sunday of natural causes. He was 99. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2 at Redmond Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Gibson was born July 24, 1904, in Lopez Island, Wash., to H. E. and Alberta (Storey) Gibson. He was raised in Dayton and married Ada Pearl in 1928 in Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Gibson homesteaded around Shaniko and worked as a farmer there and in Redmond. He had been a resident of Redmond since 1952 and moved to La Pine two years ago.
Mr. Gibson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed watching football and baseball and spending time with his family. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Johnson of La Pine; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons. Autumn Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
