OBIT: NEWCOMERSTOWN -- John Harold Davis, 86, of 494 Cross St., died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. Born July 27, 1918, in Booth, he was a son of the late John C. and Maude (Meek) Davis. Mr. Davis was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Simonds Cutting Tool in 1980 after 41 years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, Elks Lodge 1555 of Newcomerstown, Loyal Order of the Moose 1337, Tri-County Sportsmans Club, American Legion Post 431, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3303, Tri-County Scottish Rite, Tuscarawas County Humane Society, Masonic Lone Star Lodge 175, Nugent Chapter 124, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge and Aladdin Temple Shrine. On Dec. 18, 1939, he married Maxine (Lewis) Davis, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Davis is survived by a son, John R. (Evelyn) Davis of Newcomerstown; two grandsons, John (Karen) Davis of Johnstown, and Jeffrey (Mary) Davis of Sunbury; five great-grandchildren, J.D. Davis, Hannah Davis, Landen Davis, Megan Davis and Joey Davis; and a niece, Sandra (J.R.) Hawkins of Columbus. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, a grandson, a niece and a sister-in-law. A private family graveside service will be held Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown. Military services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown is in charge of the arrangements.
