OBIT, The Hawkeye, Burlington, IA, Jan. 1, 2007: James Sherman Wickham, 75, of Montrose, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at the Fort Madison Hospital in Fort Madison. Born Jan. 3, 1932, in Montrose, he was the son of Ira Rouse and Margaret Ellen Calhoun Wickham. On May 8, 1956, he married Shirley Wright in North Platte, Neb. Mr. Wickham graduated from Montrose High School in 1949. He served in the Army four years and in the Air Force 16 years, retiring in 1972. He owned and operated Wick's Tavern in Montrose for 16 years, retiring in 1989. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Montrose Fire Department. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, working crossword puzzles and woodworking. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carrie White, Marcia Morgan and Ellen Toops all of Montrose; one son, Thomas James Wickham of Montrose; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Ott of Fort Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
