OBIT: Ector Co, TX- Alan Wickham MIDLAND Alan Wickham was born Nov. 23, 1935, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Helen M. (Barney) and Meryle A. Wickham. He fought a valiant fight against lung cancer but died Monday, June 17, 2002, at a local hospital. Alan married Barbara Knapek on Dec. 6, 1980, in Midland. Alan served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years. He was a contract truck driver (owner-operator) contracted to Ace Transportation, Terminal No. 57, in Odessa. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anne Wickham; and father- in-law and best friend, A.T. "Shorty" Knapek. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wickham of Midland; his sons, Michael Wickham and wife Dianne of Richardson, Sean L. Kator and wife Heidi of Midland and Mark Kator and wife Elizabeth of Terrytown, La.; his grandchildren, Katherine Wickham, Christopher Wickham, Patric Sloboda, David Sloboda, Sean C. Kator, Shane Kator, Ian Kator, Laura Kator and Charlotte Kator; his brothers, Clayton Wickham and wife Barbara of Escondido, Calif., and Gerald Wickham and wife Sharon of Eau Claire, Wis.; and his sisters, Barbara Cole and husband Mike of Rapid City, S.D., and Margaret Wickham of Deland, Fla. Alan is also survived by his best friend, mother-in-law and caregiver, Sibie Knapek of Andrews. A visitation has been scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 19, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home. Services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Payton of Stonegate Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family request that memorials be directed to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 297153, Houston, Texas, 77297, 1-800-525-5841, or a charity of choice. Honorary pallbearers will be his children, grandchildren and drivers and employees of Ace Transportation, Terminal No. 57.
