Violet E. Woodsmall, 74, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Born Nov. 12, 1929, in Lowell, she was the daughter of Loren Ray and Lillian Harris Dickey. On Nov. 14, 1948, she married Dwight "Woody" Woodsmall in Edina, Mo.
Mrs. Woodsmall retired from Metromail in 1993. She also had worked at the New London Glove Factory, Van's Lunch Box, the Whistlestop Cafe, Charlie's Market and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
She was a 1948 graduate of New London High School. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Mount Pleasant, New London VFW Post 7641, Women's Auxiliary and TOPS. She enjoyed sewing, bowling and all sports.
Survivors include one daughter, Diana Stagers of Mount Pleasant; one son, Bob Woodsmall of St. Peters, Mo.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Irene Vantiger of Mount Pleasant and Rose Harper of Tampa, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister in infancy.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Woodsmall will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.
A memorial has been established.
