OBIT, Fremont Tribune, June 14, 2007: Mable Minton - The funeral for Mable E. Ball Minton, 94, of Lyons will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons. She died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland. She was born July 4, 1912, on a family farm near Decatur. She was the fifth of 14 children born to Claude and Myrtle (Marks) Ball. She attended the Ball Grade School in Decatur, Decatur High School and in 1931, Wayne State College. She married Frank Minton on Jan. 23, 1933. They farmed near Walthill until they moved to Milwaukee, Wis., in 1957. They returned to Lyons in 1959. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons. Survivors include: her husband; a daughter, Anita (and husband, Gerald) Newill of Lyons; a son, James (and wife, Sharlene) Minton of Austin, Texas; daughter-in-law, Elda (Mrs. Michael) Minton of Lyons; a brother, Claude Jr. (and wife, Bette) Ball of Onawa, Iowa; two sisters, Lorraine Day of Union Grove, Wis., and Luella Beck of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Agnes (Mrs. Steve) Ball of Franklin, Wis., Eula (Mrs. Jack) Ball of Milwaukee and Janet (Mrs. Hiram) Ball of Decatur; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, five sisters and five brothers. The Rev. Murray Schmechel will officiate Thursday's service. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.
