OBIT: The Garner Leader & Signal, May 11, 2001: Former Garner resident, Marie Brooks, of Poway, California, died on Thursday, April 19, 2001, at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Poway. She was 89. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 18, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mrs. Brooks was a beautician for over 25 years in Garner. She retired with her husband, Millard M. Brooks, to Mesa, Arizona in 1975. In 1995 she moved to California. She became a resident at Manor Care in 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Bob Brooks of Rochester, Minnesota, John Brooks of DeWitt, Iowa and Bill Brooks of Poway, California; a sister, Pauline Satur of Biggs, California; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Millard in 1991.
