Sylvester Wright, a lifelong Linn County resident until moving to Anamosa six years ago, passed away 7:30 Thursday May 1, 1980 at the Anamosa hospital. He was born the son of Thomas Wright and Jessie Fleming Wright on October 9, 1890 in Woodbury County. On October 18, 1911 at Marion, he was married to Goldie Wickham, who died January 12, 1976 at Ames. Mr. Wright was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving are a son, Orville Wright, of Eastman, Wisconsin; a daughter Mrs. James Leila Wright of Anamosa; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a brother Ralph Wright of Alburnett. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Lillian and Bessie Wright. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 1980 at the Murdoch Chapel in Central City. Conducted by: Pastor Steve Pike. Organist: Mrs. Phyllis Baxter. Bearers: Walter Baty, William Stock, George Caryl, Lloyd Henderson, Leo Willmott and Daymon Morrison. Interment Troy Mills Cemetery.
