Dolores Ethel Wickham was born on November 3, 1931, the daughter of Lloyd and Martha (Pierce) Wickham near Hawkeye, Iowa. She attended rural school in Volga and Fayette High School. On December 20, 1952, Dolores was united in marriage to Arvin Elsbury at the Methodist Church in Strawberry Point. Together they farmed in Strawberry Point, Farmersburg, and back to Strawberry Point. They retired and moved to town in 1993. Dolores worked outside of the home at the Strawberry Point Civic Center and at the Berry Tender Child Care.
Dolores died suddenly at her residence in Strawberry Point on Monday evening, January 7, 2008. She was seventy-six years of age. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, gardening, canning, reading, cooking, attending her grandchildren?s activities, and family gatherings.
Survivors include her husband Arvin Elsbury of Strawberry Point; five children, Jerrald (Ruth) Elsbury of Strawberry Point, Marsha (Daniel) Novak of Atkins, Cheryl (Todd) Reiher of Shell Rock, Sharon Mohning of Cedar Rapids, and Connie Elsbury and husband Dan Schachtnor of Denver, Colorado; twelve grandchildren, Kevin Elsbury, Tim Elsbury, Sara Elsbury, Ryan Elsbury, Justin Novak, Nick Novak, Kristi Novak, Katarina Reiher, Michael Reiher, Samuel Reiher, Johnathon Mohning, and Joseph Mohning; and her sister, Betty Wickham of Strawberry Point.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, John Homewood; a grandson, Joshua Mohning in 2001; a brother, Bob Wickham; a sister, Beverly Majors; one step-brother, Harold Homewood; and two step-sisters, Joyce Peyton and Phyllis Bagby.
