OBIT, The Cedar Rapids Gazette (IA), Fri, July 2, 1982: John S. Matus, 83, of 1044 Center Point Road NE died Wednesday at Veterans Soldiers Home, Marshalltown, following a long illness. Born Feb. 2, 1899, at Cedar Rapids, he was married to Emma Wickham on Feb. 12, 1933, at Cedar Rapids. He was a welder at Link Belt prior to retirement and served in the Army during World War II. Surviving in addition to his wife are one stepson, Loren Lain of Cedar Rapids; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Cessford of Cedar Rapids and Beatrice Krufman of Santa Monica, Calf.;and one brother, Joe of Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by the Rev. Louis Trzil and the Rev. Leroy Bauman. Burial: Linwood Cemetery with military services by Hanford Post No. 5. Rosary: 7 tonight at Brosh Chapel where friends may call after 1 p.m. today.
