P.O. 'Robber' Only a Drunk, Is Locked Up
SANTA MONICA - (U.R) - An overalled inebriate woke up in jail today, booked on suspicion of having tried to hold up the Santa Monica postoffice.
Daniel Shea, 30, of Zanesville, O., was an unconvincing desperado as he swayed up to the postal savings window, one hand in his overall pocket, and muttered thickly: "Pass over the business or I'll fill you full of lead."
David Jasen, clerk, simply ducked behind a counter, and Shea staggered out again, Police overtook him as he accosted pedestrians, hand in pocketagain, demanding the price of a cup of coffee. The pedestrians laughed at him.
Police said he was"dead drunk". He was held on suspicion of intoxication and attempted robbery
Submitted by P. Jill Moore. She reports that Daniel Shea was an alias.
